Mohammad Ali Salim
Mohammad Ali Salim’s interest in photography began at age 13. But did not start to really develop until he learned to process black & white images in the “Basic Course” at The Begart Institute of Photography in Bangladesh in 1974. Salim was awarded AFIAP (Artist FIAP)- distinction from FIAP (The International Federation of Photographic Art) France, in 1987. He was the first recipient of AFIAP in Bangladesh in 1987. He received his diploma in Professional Photography from the New York Institute of Photography in 1995. He served as the Secretary General of The Bangladesh Photographic Society (BPS) for three terms (1988-1990). Salim has been a member of PSA since 2009 and Member of PSA Metropolitan Chapter since 2015. He received his GMPSA in 2016 and Portfolio Distinction SPSA in 2017.He was listed in PSA Who’s Who in 2010, 2011 and 2012 as a Top North American Exhibitor. In addition to his GMPSA, SPSA, he gained the following distinctions: MFIAP – In Paris, France, the International Federation of Photographic Art, FIAP, awarded Mohammad Ali Salim the highest distinction, ‘Master Photography’ (MFIAP) in April 2013. He is the 2nd and only living recipient of the MFIAP in the United States. (the first was awarded to Mr. Bela Kalman in 1984). Mr. Salim is also the only Bangladeshi born MFIAP to date. EFIAP/Platinum – (Excellence FIAP Level platinum) from FIAP in 2014. Hon. FBPS (Honorary Fellow from Bangladesh photographic Society) in 2016. Hon. FBSPA (Hon. Fellow from Bangladesh Society of photographic Art) in 2014. ARPS (Associateship from Royal Photographic Society) in the UK in 2013. AIIPC (Associateship from India International Photographic council) in 1990. ABPS (Associateship from Bangladesh Photographic Society) in 1987.
